Steve Gibson is a designer and builder of astronomical instrumentation, with an emphasis on high-stability echelle spectrometers.  Originally from Ontario, Canada, he studied at the University of Waterloo and McGill University, and then completed his PhD in New Zealand.

His current role is the systems engineer and optical designer for the Keck Planet Finder instrument (KPF), which is currently under development at SSL for the W.M. Keck Observatory.  KPF is being designed to study and characterize planets around other stars through the technique of Doppler spectroscopy.
